Do it yourself - Hair mask Coconut & Honey

DIY | Nourishing Hair Mask

For thousands of years, honey has been used as a natural remedy for all sorts of purposes, from supporting digestion to soothing a sore throat. So it’s no surprise that we also use honey in a hair mask.

Honey! Most people have this natural product somewhere in their kitchen cupboard. Fantastic, because you can also use it in your homemade hair mask.

WHICH HONEY SHOULD I USE FOR MY DIY HAIR MASK?

All types of honey will provide these positive benefits, but research shows that pure and organic honey contains higher levels of active components.
Royal Green organic honey is not heated, machine-filtered, or blended with cheaper honeys. It is traditionally strained and processed so that all nutrients are preserved.

For our DIY hair mask, we used Royal Green Caribbean Honey. It spreads easily and contains plenty of nutrients that make for a wonderfully nourishing hair mask.
Want the very best for your hair? Then choose Royal Green Manuka Honey — which scores highest in research.

HONEY HAIR MASK

Apart from all the benefits honey offers, this wonderful natural product also works brilliantly as a binding agent. Perfect for a hair mask when you’re adding a few other natural ingredients.
In this recipe, we add Royal Green Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, as coconut oil can hydrate and soften the hair.
This tropical hair mask:

  • hydrates dry hair and scalp

  • gives the hair a beautiful shine

  • reduces frizz and breakage

  • softens the hair

  • improves overall hair condition

hairmask

YOU WILL NEED:

  • approx. 2 tbsp Royal Green Caribbean Honey

  • approx. 2 tbsp Royal Green Extra Virgin Coconut Oil

  • saucepan

  • (mixing) bowl

  • wooden spoon

  • towel

  • shower cap or plastic wrap

  • optional: small brush

  • optional: add a beaten egg if you struggle with breakage, the high protein content can help strengthen the hair and reduce breakage.

Mix honey and coconut in a bowl

METHOD:

Dampen your hair slightly. Place a towel around your shoulders and let your hair rest on it. Add the honey and coconut oil to a saucepan and heat gently until they blend together. Keep stirring slowly. Do not let it boil.

Allow the mixture to cool slightly so that it is still warm but safe to apply.
Apply it to your hair using a small brush or your fingers. Start at the scalp and work towards the ends. Gently massage the mixture into your hair with your fingertips.

Place a shower cap or plastic wrap over your hair if desired.
Leave the mixture to work for 30 minutes.
Rinse thoroughly with shampoo.

Result: wonderfully soft and shiny hair!

Because a hair mask sits on the hair and scalp for longer, it can work far more intensively for softness and maintaining healthy hair than a ‘normal’ conditioner.
